HOW TO PLAY

The Official CC7D Filming Week for 2023 is July 5 - July 12.  The deadline to turn in your film will be determined at the CC7D Kick-Off event on July 5.

To play CC7D you must register in person at the CC7D Kick-Off on July 5 at House of Rock, 511 Starr Street.   Registration in $50. 

CC7D is a filmmaking competition where teams have 7 days to make a film from scratch.  It's open to anyone.  People from all of walks of life with varying skill level have participated since 2007. 

 

All entrants must be 18 years of age or must have a parent or legal guardian sign the Participant's Agreement. 

Each participating group must have a representative at the official CC7D Kickoff Event on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at The Venue at House of Rock, 511 Starr St., Corpus Christi, Texas 78401.  Registration will begin at 6:00 pm. 

  • At the Kickoff event, each group will submit a Participant’s Agreement, signed by the Team Leader, and pay the entry fee.

  • The only information required at the Kickoff event is the Team’s name, the Team Leader’s name and contact information.

  • Each CC7D Team will receive a packet with all necessary paperwork.

  • Each CC7D Team will be assigned required essential elements that must appear in its film, including a specific character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a fourth element.

  • The exact time for the turn-In deadline on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 will be officially determined at the Kickoff event.  It will be announced, posted on the website and ​social media.  

  • Film that are not turned in by the announced deadline will not be accepted.  This is a painful experience every year.  Make sure to turn in your by the deadline -- NO EXCEPTIONS!   

It is highly recommended for all CC7D Team Leaders to read the CC7D Rules prior to the Kick-Off.   The CC7D Rules have been written and modified over the years for fair play and for the integrity of the event.   

Films that meet all CC7D criteria are eligible for Grand Jury Prize (1st Place), Runner-Up (2nd Place), Honorable Mention (3rd Place), Audience Award, Filmmakers Award, Young Filmmaker Award, Best Directing, Best Cinematography, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Ensemble, Best Use of Essential Prop, Best Use of Essential Character and Best Use of Essential Dialogue. Teams with original music created specifically for their films will be eligible for Best Original Song (songs with lyrics) and Best Original Score (instrumental). Teams that submit a screenplay of their films will be eligible for Best Screenplay.

The Steering Committee will screen all films entered to verify time, content and essential element requirements.  The Steering Committee will contact the CC7D Team Leader to confirm that their film has qualified and is selected as part of the official CC7D Screening and Awards Ceremony. 

 

A local Screening Committee will select the films sent to the Jury. The Screening Committee will screen the films with the same process and criteria given to the Jury.  The top films are sent to the Jury made up of industry professionals, ranging from actors, directors, editors, screenwriters, producers and more.  

The Screening and Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2023. The Screening will be at the Alamo Drafthouse Corpus Christi, 7601 South Staples, Corpus Christi, TX 78413.  All 2023 CC7D films that met all the criteria required will be screened at the Alamo Drafthouse. The Awards Ceremony will follow at The Venue at House of Rock, 511 Starr St., Corpus Christi, Texas 78401.

Contest rules, policies, procedures and events are managed by the CC7D Steering Committee.
